La Candelaria, Bogota, Colombia

A historic neighbourhood in downtown Colombia – La Candelaria has some of the most amazing street art in the world.

Narrow cobblestone streets are lined with murals on every corner from local and international artists.

And every piece has either a political or environmental message behind it.

The street art with its rawness and historical context inspires different styles and reminds us that even a simple brick wall can be striking if given purpose.

Florence is like an open air museum.

The beauty in the architecture of its buildings and piazzas is sure to inspire you to think on both ends of the spectrum in terms of large scale mesmerising structures down to the tiny details.

The warm yellow tones which the city exudes during dusk and dawn create an irresistible sense of harmony. Which just goes to show the power of colour in creating the right ambience for your events.

Paris is packed with many well-known and less well-known arts precincts. But of course you can’t go past The Louvre – arguably the epicentre of art in Europe. The Louvre Pyramid – designed by architect Ieoh Ming Pei – just turned 30 in March.

Aside from the obvious reasons it’s on this list with its incredible art collection, The Louvre is a place that entices visitors from all over the world, encouraging hoards of people to come together to share in a piece of history, culture and human experience.

It’s that timelessness that we as event professionals aim to channel. And it’s what makes it so special.

The Rocks, Sydney, Australia

Sometimes we forget to explore our own backyard. But there’s so much we miss out on if we don’t occasionally stop to look at our hometown through the eyes of a first-time visitor.

The Rocks has loads to offer when it comes to art, culture and history. Just walking around the cobblestone laneways, down the winding sandstone stairways and along by the water – there’s heritage all around.

This, combined with the modern contemporary works on offer at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, make for a whole lot of inspiration.

Especially during Vivid Sydney – with its immersive light installations and projections, performances by local and international musicians, and ideas exchange featuring leading creative thinkers – it’ll no doubt spur creative brilliance.
