Didn’t make it out to Wired for Wonder 2018? We can tell you it was fascinating.
Two of our team attended as delegates and they came back totally inspired.
And since we’re a fan of the sharing is caring mantra – here are their favourite parts about the event which we think you’d like to hear about.
Please note, AV1 was not involved in the production of this event. Please visit the website for a list of event partners.
We know you love to hear about inspiring speakers. And Wired for Wonder had a great line-up of diverse presenters. Some of our favourites:
These guys were excellent futurists, and funny too. We’d recommend them for any conference thanks to their entertaining, insightful and green-thinking ways.

“If you live in a pond, find a river.” Just one of the thought-provoking statements from Frances.
Lots of takeaways about people, education, training and skills. She’s especially relevant for business leaders struggling to navigate the impact of technological advancement and cultural change in the workplace.

According to AV1 attendee Kealan, Sean was “The best!! My hero.”
You might know Sean as the pianist for many of the kids shows on the ABC. He was excellent as a change of pace in between other keynotes and great at improvising with content from other speakers.

Walking back into one of the sessions we were handed balloons. Instructions then appeared on screen about what to do. A fight was involved. Without giving away too much, let’s just say it was a lot of fun, chaotic and hilarious – the crowd went wild!
This one’s a reminder about how important it is to break up the day with some form of entertainment. Laughter is a great way to do that.
Silly activities get the mind buzzing, the adrenalin going, and encourage attendees to interact with each other. And after all, facilitating human connection is why we put on live events, is it not?
There are a few innovative ideas we saw that are worth mentioning.
We’re a fan of breakouts! Attendees come from all walks of life, so designing tailored content around specific topics and allowing them to choose what interests them will ensure your event stays relevant.
A brilliant pianist played in the foyer at times. It created a peaceful atmosphere that encouraged long trains of thought, conversation and of course, wonder.
Having a selection of healthy food rather than the high-sugar crowd-pleasers was refreshing. It’s an effective way for attendees to keep energy levels up and remain focused on your content.

Wired for Wonder took place on in Melbourne on 11 September 2018 and in Sydney on 13 September 2018.
We’d like to shout out to Paula Nolan and her team at CommBank who produced an immersive, inspiring and innovative event. Hats off to you all.
