Some events invite guests to sit down and settle in. This one encouraged them to explore.
Set at Watersedge, the concept was a moveable feast - a night designed as a journey through multiple themed spaces, each offering a different atmosphere, story, and sensory experience. AV1’s production approach focused on creating clear visual and emotional distinctions between each environment, giving guests what felt like a smorgasbord of experiences across five unique spaces.
As the second of five curated evening experiences for Premier Financial Alliance’s Sydney incentive program, this immersive experience at Watersedge set the tone for an exciting week ahead. Hosting 500 guests from the United States, the event accelerated the creative momentum of the group’s journey through a series of unique dining experiences across the city.
To deliver a seamless and premium experience, Laissez-Faire Catering, Simply Seated and AV1 worked as a unified delivery team, collaborating closely with program organisers The Travel Corner. Together, the partners looked beyond their core services, supporting the client with the many additional details required to bring each themed evening to life and ensure every guest experience felt intentional from the moment they entered the venue.

Arrival: a story of place
The evening began before guests even stepped inside.
Outside the venue, The Rocks Walking Tours greeted attendees with insights into Sydney’s rich history, setting the scene and grounding the event firmly in its location. It was a thoughtful way to start the night - inviting guests to connect with the heritage of the precinct before the festivities began.
As guests entered Watersedge, the venue’s natural sandstone architecture became the star. Carefully positioned uplighting accentuated the texture and warmth of the stone, creating a welcoming glow that celebrated the character of the building rather than competing with it.
Five spaces, five experiences
The design philosophy for the night was simple: each area should feel like stepping into a new world.
A bespoke lighting design played a central role in achieving this, transforming each room into its own distinct environment.
Neon disco
For those ready to dance, the Neon Disco delivered energy and colour in abundance.
The stage design featured more than 25 disco balls suspended above a vibrant neon tube stage set, with an LED DJ booth acting as the centrepiece. Guests tuned into the action through silent disco headsets, with three DJs performing simultaneously across three different channels, each with its own musical theme.
The result was a dance floor buzzing with choice - guests switching channels, discovering new sounds, and creating their own version of the party.
Noodle market
Inspired by Asian night markets, the Noodle Market area offered a lively contrast.
Red festoon lighting and lanterns created a warm, bustling atmosphere, while a travelling duo performance moved through the crowd, adding to the sense of spontaneity and street-market energy.
The lighting and styling were engineered to reinforce the theme, making the space feel immersive and vibrant.
“On the harbour” ice bar
For a cooler change of pace, guests could step into the “On the Harbour” Ice Bar.
Here, white chiffon draping was illuminated to create a soft, fluid effect - evoking the feeling of being underwater or surrounded by mist on the harbour. Lighting design leaned into cool tones, reinforcing the icy theme while maintaining a calm, atmospheric space within the larger event.
Speakeasy bar
The Speakeasy Bar offered a completely different mood.
Retro-inspired pendant lighting and warm-toned fixtures created a low-lit, intimate environment reminiscent of classic hidden bars. It was a place for conversation, cocktails, and a moment of quiet amid the energy of the night.
Sweet landscapes
Perhaps the most visually immersive space was Sweet Landscapes.
This room was transformed through projection mapping, with Sydney-inspired landscapes wrapping the walls to create a fully immersive environment. Guests were surrounded by visuals that celebrated the city itself, reinforcing the event’s connection to place.
A night destined for discovery
Across all five spaces, the production and styling worked together to emphasise contrast and discovery. Lighting, staging, and content were carefully tailored so that each room offered a new atmosphere and a new experience.
Guests weren’t simply attending an event - they were exploring it.
The result was a dynamic evening where people could wander, dance, connect, and immerse themselves in different worlds, all within the same venue.
A moveable feast in every sense of the word.
The client perspective
“I’ve been producing events around the world for 38 years, and this event for 500 people has been one of the most supported and fascinating programs I’ve ever delivered.
The three partners quickly became what I consider to be the dream team.”
