Foundation Hall

The Foundation Hall is an impressive ballroom with seven-metre-high ceilings and a terrace overlooking Sydney Harbour.

Once the original reception hall of the former Maritime Services Board, this 450-square-metre space has been beautifully refurbished using traditional materials, including scagliola stone pillars and terrazzo flooring.

  • L-Acoustics PA system: Premium speakers, subwoofers and amplifiers for exceptional sound distribution in all orientations of the space.
  • Dynamic lighting: More than 60 moving headlights, LED fixtures and pin spots to create immersive lighting effects.
  • Installed truss system: Strategically placed trusses for flexible and secure rigging.

Harbourside Room

The Harbourside Room is an ideal rooftop location featuring an exclusive outdoor terrace with panoramic views of Sydney Harbour, the Opera House and the city skyline. This space is fitted with lime-washed cedar ceilings, Australian hardwood flooring, and floor-to-ceiling glass windows, providing a sleek contemporary backdrop to suit any occasion.

Quayside Room

The Quayside Room is a sleek rooftop setting featuring sweeping views of the city skyline, Sydney Harbour and Opera House. With both an internal area and an expansive external terrace, this versatile venue can cater to a broad range of events.

Sculpture Terrace

The Loti Smorgon Sculpture Terrace is the MCA's largest outdoor terrace, with spectacular views of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Named in honour of philanthropist Mrs Loti Smorgon AO (1918–2013), this contemporary space features annual commissions that respond to the Museum's culturally significant and spectacular location.

Lecture Theatre

Situated on level 2 of the Museum, the Lecture Theatre includes a large central screen with tiered seating and is well suited to film screenings or conferences, presentations, panel discussions and meetings.

Seminar Room

The Seminar Room is a well-equipped space situated on Level 2 of the Museum. This room has a high-definition screen and configurable tables and is most suitable for meetings and presentations.

Ambassador Lounge

The Ambassador Lounge is an inviting, intimate space situated in the heart of the Museum. Featuring a private library and panoramic windows framing iconic Sydney Harbour views, this versatile venue is ideal for breakfast events, networking drinks and private dinners.
