About us

We’re a Certified B Corp™

AV1 became a Certified B Corp in October 2016. Ten years and three recertifications on, it still guides how we hire, buy, produce and give back.

The B stands for benefit

A B Corp is a business independently certified for meeting high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.

It is a rigorous audit, repeated every three years, and our purpose is written into our legal constitution.

For you, that means the company producing your event is accountable to its workers, its suppliers, its community and the planet, not only its shareholders.

2016

The year AV1 first certified as a B Corp

01

Climate action, measured

We treat certification as a health check, so we keep looking for ways to cut the environmental impact of our operations.

Pledging to Net Zero Carbon Events

AV1 has signed the pledge and publicly announced that we will advocate for carbon reductions across the events industry and take action on climate change.

Measuring our carbon emissions

We have started annual carbon reporting with Trace, a platform that backdates twelve months of emissions data and streamlines ongoing measurement. Our reporting badge recognises that milestone.

Climate Action Plan

Our plan ties measurement, targets and actions together. We are building it with Trace so it stays guided by our values and backed by action you can hold us to.

02

Living it behind the scenes

When we certified, we started looking more closely at the choices we make.
Step by step, we found more sustainable practices and products that fit our workflow and make a real difference.

A 100% paper-free warehouse

Administration and event briefs moved online in 2016. In 2024, we implemented Rentman and took the warehouse fully paperless.

Leave every space better

The B Corp symbol on our shirts is a reminder of the influence we have beyond our own doors. Every AV1der treats an event space as a chance to leave it better than we found it.

Uniforms from a fellow B Corp

Every AV1 tee comes from Ethical Tee’s, a B Corp and our go-to merchandise supplier. A simple switch that is better for our people and the planet.

Client gifts with purpose

Gift packages we send to clients are sourced from B Corps or companies with ethical practices.

Our sustainable supplier policy

We buy from other B Corps and values-aligned suppliers wherever we can, and our supplier policy sets out what we ask of the businesses we work with.

The communities we stand beside

Business should be a force for good. Through in-kind support, pro-rata services and long partnerships, we work with organisations driving real change.

Redfern Youth Connect

Our partnership with this local Aboriginal drop-in centre began with the fit-out of their Alexandria space: audio system, projector, screen and speakers they use every day. We have also raised over $20,000 for their programs, through our Pay What You Like initiative.

Supporting schools

We want the next generation to thrive, so we lend gear, crew and time to schools in the communities around us.

That looks like audio visual production for school fairs and assemblies, equipment and crew for student performances, and time spent mentoring students who want to work in events.

Having AV1 on board as our Creative Production Partner for the CEO CookOff means we can deliver an unforgettable experience for our supporters and raise even more vital funds to feed people in need. Their commitment to community and B Corp status aligns perfectly with our own mission.

DAEISY
Our diversity, accessibility, equity and inclusion strategy

DAEISY is our 2024–28 strategy.

A daisy chain signifies connection: it can be expanded, but with care and gentleness, and it can be worn with pride.

Ensuring diversity, accessibility, equity and inclusion is a shared responsibility that belongs to each of us, extending to our colleagues, customers and the broader community.

It shapes who is on the crew, how easily people can take part, how fairly opportunities are shared, and whether everyone on site feels they belong. A Reconciliation Action Plan is part of the community commitments in the strategy.

People

Belonging, access, growth and psychological safety for our team.

Community

Events that are inclusive by experience, First Nations acknowledgement, and pathways into the industry for new entrants.

Industry

Sharing our learnings and frameworks openly, and working with clients to raise the bar.

Inside the B Corp community

Since 2015, we have been a key collaborator with Purpose Conference, and we are the technical partner for B Lab’s Assembly Conference, managing all production requirements and introducing new immersive elements each year.

We take part in B Lab forums, town halls and networking events, and we love working alongside fellow B Corps. When the values are shared, the impact of an event runs deeper.

08

We ask, and we act on it

Customers are one of the pillars we are assessed against, so we survey every client after their event and feed the results straight back into how we work.

We donate $25 to charity for every survey response we receive, and our clients can choose from our three charity partners.

B Corp, answered

The questions clients, suppliers and colleagues ask us most.

What actually is a B Corp?+

A business certified by B Lab for meeting high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. It is a rigorous, independently verified certification, not a marketing badge.

Is a B Corp still a for-profit business?+

Yes. B Corps are for-profit companies. The difference is that profit is not the only priority: success is measured across people, planet, profit and purpose.

How does a company become one?+

By completing the B Impact Assessment through B Lab, which reviews governance, workers, community impact, environment and customers. A company must reach a minimum verified score and legally embed stakeholder governance into its constitution.

What changed in 2026?+

B Corps recertifying from 2026 follow B Lab’s V2 standards, which require meaningful action across seven impact topics: purpose and stakeholder governance, climate action, human rights, fair work, environmental stewardship and circularity, justice, equity, diversity and inclusion, and government affairs and collective action.

What does it mean for my event?+

Measured emissions you can report on, a supply chain we can account for, crew looked after under a wellbeing strategy, and a producer whose purpose is written into its constitution. Ask your AV1 producer for the detail on your event.

Let’s produce something worth being proud of

Talk to us about the sustainability, accessibility and community goals behind your next event.
