Providing students with their first step
Since 2017, AV1 has been connecting with colleges to offer students the chance to join as level-one technicians while pursuing sound, stage, video, and event management degrees.
This initiative stemmed from our People & Culture Manager conducting career talks at educational institutions, sparking interest among students to become part of AV1 after hearing success stories of growth within the company.

Each year, we welcome groups of 5-10 students as a “Career Jump Start Program” in collaboration with JMC Academy Ultimo, offering them a strong foundation in the live event industry. By pairing them with mentors who once started as students, we equip them with technical skills and professional development abilities like communication, client management, crew leadership, and more.
Many of these students have transitioned into thriving careers following their time with AV1. Not only have numerous individuals rapidly ascended through the ranks, becoming highly sought-after talents within the industry, but many have also diversified their roles within AV1. Some have excelled in warehouse management, operations, and crewing functions and are part of our full-time team.
In April 2024, we welcomed a team we've called THE JMC FIVE, who joined us as AV1ders to be part of our training program while they complete their studies. These five incredible young stars are excelling in their training, and they have already received compliments and incredible feedback from Senior AV1 staff and partners.
They were trained by AV1 superstars Marty and Patt, who also came on board through similar programs in 2022. Who then excelled in full-time positions with AV1.
