At AV1, we’re always evolving to better serve our clients, our team, and the industry at large. That’s why we’re excited to share that Kealan Coleman has taken on a new role as Business Development Director.
Kealan has been an integral part of AV1 for over 19 years, bringing extensive technical production experience from his roles as Production Manager to Director of RSPICT (Risk, Safety, Process, IT, Compliance, and Training).
In his previous role, he was instrumental in shaping our operational efficiencies, ensuring our processes were best in class, and upholding the highest safety standards across all AV1 events.
Now, Kealan brings this wealth of experience to a new challenge - enhancing the client journey and driving business growth. As Business Development Director, he will focus on strengthening relationships, refining our service offerings, and ensuring every AV1 client receives the highest level of care and strategic insight. His deep understanding of AV1’s operations, combined with his commitment to excellence, makes him the perfect fit for this role.
We asked Kealan a few questions so you can get to know him better.
Kealan, what is your favourite event of all time?
Attending: Watching Muse with massive LED screens on either side of the stage, back when that was very new!
Producing: I loved creating a custom exhibition stand for one of AV1's top clients, with lots of integrated tech. It involved lots of consultation around the flow, the UX, the brand consistency, and the reusability also.
One famous person, dead or alive, who are you having dinner with?
Gandhi (my middle namesake), Tori Amos (my favourite solo musician), Bernardo O’Higgins (the liberator of Chile, of Irish descent). If you could be any animal, what would it be and why?
Orcas have a fairly good life, depending on where they are, of course! They are hunters yet not a threat to humans, family-focused, like chatting and hanging out, and let’s say they are possibly the ‘foodies’ of the ocean?!What is your favourite coffee spot?
I brew my coffee at home, yet today, I had a mid-morning breakfast at one of the places looking onto the trees around Camperdown Park, which is on my route to work every day by bike!
What's your ideal Friday night activity?
Nowadays, it’s fun to take the family out for dinner (sushi or pizza!) or see if there’s a new movie released with popcorn at home!

What are you looking forward to about the new role?
To reconnect with our clients, past, present and hopefully future!
How can you help our existing clients?
To listen to what they need, their pain points, what works well, and how we can add some missing pieces to complete their puzzle!
What are three things you'd like any potential new clients to know?
- ‘Most’ things are possible! I love a good ideation session or brainstorm!
- If you don’t ask the question, you may not find out the answer
- Trust, honesty, and integrity in what we do allow me to sleep at night and look people in the eye.
How can clients get in touch with you?
My Morse code skills are rusty, and my carrier pigeon got bird flu, so a phone call or SMS is best. However, I do respond to emails, LinkedIn, and in-person catch-ups. I tend to leave the other social media conversations to others!
