At AV1’s Long Summer Lunch, event planners were invited to share their predictions for the future of events during the registration process.

These insights were showcased on a stunning 3m emerald screen installation, immersing attendees in the collective vision of the industry’s future.

Future predictions on the LSL Emerald Installation

After analysing the responses from 100 industry experts, several key themes emerged. Here’s what event planners see on the horizon:

1. AI & technology will shape the industry

The overwhelming consensus? AI and technology will transform events as we know them. A massive 69% of predictions referenced AI, automation, or virtual elements. Many expect AI to enhance personalisation, improve event logistics, and create seamless audience engagement.

“AI-driven event assistants will handle scheduling, logistics, and even content recommendations tailored to each attendee.”

2. Sustainability is non-negotiable

With 12% of responses referencing sustainability, the industry is clearly shifting towards greener practices. Carbon-neutral events, sustainable materials, and emission reporting are set to become standard.

“Carbon-neutral events will become the norm, and sustainability will be at the core of every
event decision.”

3. Personalisation & customisation will dominate

A further 12% of responses predicted a stronger emphasis on personalised experiences. Customised attendee journeys, tailored content, and AI-powered recommendations will take engagement to the next level.

“Events will feel uniquely crafted for each individual, with personalised agendas, AI-driven networking, and real-time content adaptation.”

4. Hybrid & virtual events are here to stay

While in-person events are back, hybrid and virtual elements will continue to be key. 10% of event planners foresee an increase in digital components, allowing greater accessibility and engagement.

“Hybrid events will be designed as seamless experiences, with no distinction between in-person and remote attendees.”

5. Immersive experiences will redefine engagement

Another 12% of predictions centred around immersive technologies, including LED installations, projection mapping, and interactive storytelling. Attendees want to be transported into dynamic, engaging experiences.

“Expect immersive, multi-sensory experiences with LED walls, curved screens, and
interactive environments.”

A word from Nigel Mintern

AV1’s Nigel Mintern predicts that custom LED installations will be a defining feature of future events.

“We’re seeing an increased demand for immersive content and unique stage designs, integrating curves and dynamic shapes into LED screens. This trend is only going to grow.”

From AI-powered event planning to immersive, sustainable experiences, the future of events is brimming with innovation.

At AV1, we’re excited to help bring these predictions to life, crafting extraordinary event experiences that push the boundaries of creativity and technology.
