A tight-knit relationship

AV1 works with creative agency Aurora to elevate events through technical production for clients including L’Oreal, ghd and La Prairie.

Sometimes that means AV1 gets right in there to provide a full-scale production service, working in tandem with Aurora to bring our clients’ visions to life. At other times AV1 is working with in-house AV offerings to take Aurora’s events to the next level.

However we work together, AV1 is on the ground with Aurora on event day to ensure the experience is slick, attention-grabbing and shareable for the agency’s end-clients and their equally discerning audiences.

“Aurora can rely on us for the complete technical production side of it and just know that we are acting in their best interests, getting it to what we need it to do and delivering it onsite with familiar faces and smiles,” says AV1 producer, Tim Lynden.

A little snapshot of our work

ghd Duet Style Product Launch

Held at The Calyx in the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, the launch of this all-in-one hair dryer and straightener was themed “from wet to styled” and saw AV1 collaborate with Aurora on the technical design of the event.

The launch featured a stage in the middle of a moat, an on-demand coloured fountain, styling stations – powered by AV1 – and product demonstrations, all captured in close-up by AV1’s wireless camera operator. AV1 also lit up the outdoor space to maximise the aesthetics of the unique architecture of The Calyx.

La Prairie Dinner

Swiss luxury skincare brand La Prairie held an intimate dinner in the Art Gallery of New South Wales. AV1 brought our technical expertise to add a little something extra to the event.

The team installed moving lights which projected art onto the wall of the gallery with a gobo and rigged lights into the ceiling to provide pin spots – tiny, tight spotlights – onto the dining tables.

AV1 also delivered the staging, PA and lectern, and lit the media wall which split the pre-dinner drinks space from the main event. Simple and elegant to fit with the sophisticated black tie event.

L’Oreal’s LDB Conference

AV1 worked with Aurora to deliver a polished conference to match the brand for the LDB Conference at the Sofitel Noosa Pacific for around 160 people.

For the AV1ders, it was all about getting the details right to ensure the event would run precisely as L’Oreal expected – using a mixture of in-house AV gear, like an LED wall, and AV1’s own equipment which we know and trust.

The AV1 team went above and beyond the brief to include all the little bells and whistles needed for a smooth delivery – from backup laptops to timers, foldback monitors and presentation clickers.

Throughout the conference AV1 provided fast, responsive service wherever it was needed. With the main event space transitioning between a single plenary and three breakout spaces, quick room resets were required. An evening talent show also had tight technical turnarounds with AV materials provided by performers minutes before they took the stage.

And one lunchtime, AV1’s technical director, Connor McEwen, even dashed off to set up some gear in a nearby restaurant that was hosting the offsite dinner that night, making it back in time to deliver the final plenary.

L’Oreal Business Forum

A slick, high production value event for over 300 salon owners, the L’Oreal Business Forum at The Langham, Gold Coast had to be high energy and high end.

“There’s always something happening to keep people engaged and in the moment,” says AV1’s producer, Tim of the forum.

AV was a big part of that. A striking opening fuelled by the room’s sound, lighting and vision. Transforming the look and feel of spaces through AV. And providing the technical equipment to deliver a seamless experience for the organisers, speakers and the audience.

With the creative direction of Aurora Creative Agency the stage set was built with an LED Wall and content projected either side. AV1 lit up the opening cocktail function using strip lighting and gobos to turn an inspiration image from L’Oreal into a reality. The team even contributed their know-how to the offsite evening venue, setting up AV for two installations that needed a little more technical attention.

“The reason that Aurora go with us is because they know that we’re going to deliver that polished product, we’re going to care about getting the doors open at the right time, with the sting and the opening video perfect and delivering that experience,” says AV1’s technical director, Connor.

The client's perspective

Aurora’s co-founder and account director, Bronwyn Bolton, agrees.

“We just know that it’s going to be seamless and smooth on the day [with AV1],” she says.

“Across the board on all those events, it’s just streamlining the process, having one point of call, anyone that we’re dealing with on email, like Tim, Connor, we’re getting them on the day. They become an extended part of our team, I think in some cases we’ve even said to the guys, ‘can you wear the Aurora shirt’.”

Bronwyn says knowing the AV1 team who will work with Aurora on event day is part of why they work with AV1.

“Those people are client facing and then that’s a reflection on us as an agency. So it’s great to have the [AV1] boys there because the clients know them now, they expect to see them at the event.

“It’s just consistency over the years.

“[AV1] are creating that layer of technical support for us so that we can focus on everything else with the conference.

“It’s just peace of mind.”
