Inspiring Speakers
Following the success of The Tech Briefing and The Safety Briefing, AV1 launched the third instalment of its industry education series with The Speaker Briefing.
Created by AV1 as a professional development initiative for event planners, the event explored one of the most influential elements of any conference or event: the speaker.
Held at The Collider, Sydney, The Speaker Briefing combined keynote showcases from internationally recognised speakers with practical education on speaker selection, production and event delivery. Rather than simply inspiring attendees, the objective was to equip them with practical tools they could immediately apply to future events.
The event was delivered in partnership with Inspire Speakers, Micenet, The Collider by ISPT, Radish Events, Sprintr, Oneill Photographics, SAA Hospitality Group and All Things All Creatures, bringing together expertise from across the business events industry.

The Challenge
Most education around speakers focuses on presentation skills or inspiration. Very little exists for the people responsible for selecting speakers, briefing them, producing them and creating the environment in which they perform.
AV1 identified an opportunity to bridge that gap.
The challenge was to create an event that showcased exceptional speakers while also unpacking everything that happens behind the scenes - from understanding the Australian and international speaker market, to production planning, technical considerations and creating an outstanding presenter experience.
At the same time, the event needed to continue building momentum for AV1's growing Briefing Series, reinforcing the company's commitment to supporting the broader events industry through education.
The Solution
Rather than running a traditional showcase, AV1 designed an experience that balanced inspiration with practical learning.
The afternoon featured presentations from:
- Chris Barton - Founder of Shazam (live virtual keynote)
- Jemima Montag - Olympic medallist and Founder of Play On
- Ashley Fell - Social researcher and futurist
- Nigel Mintern - Managing Director, AV1
- Keith Harwood - Director, Inspire Speakers
- Casey Beros - Host and facilitator
Professional keynote presentations were interwoven with practical education sessions covering the Australian and international speaker market, speaker fees and procurement, writing stronger speaker briefs, producing speakers for maximum impact, working effectively with internal presenters, best practice for virtual presentations, speaker contracts and intellectual property, and a live audience Q&A.
This unique format gave attendees the opportunity to experience world-class speakers before immediately exploring the strategies, processes and production techniques required to create more impactful speaker-led events themselves.
Production
As a production company creating an event about production, every detail was designed to reinforce the message. AV1 transformed The Collider into a contemporary conference environment featuring a large-format LED stage backdrop, broadcast-quality virtual keynote integration, dynamic show lighting, custom walk-on stings for every presenter, confidence monitor systems, professional showcalling, live Q&A production, multi-camera video capture and branded digital content throughout the venue.
Rather than simply talking about best practice, the event became a live demonstration of it, allowing attendees to experience many of the production principles discussed during Nigel Mintern's session in real time.
Content Beyond the Event
Recognising that learning shouldn't end when attendees leave the venue, AV1 developed a comprehensive post-event resource hub to extend the value of The Speaker Briefing. Attendees received exclusive access to a detailed Speaker Briefing Guide featuring key insights from Nigel Mintern and Keith Harwood, responses to audience Q&A, Ashley Fell's presentation, Inspire Speakers' speaker briefing template, a sample chapter from Casey Beros' Next of Kin, Jemima Montag's widely shared interview, and resources from previous events in the series, including The Tech Briefing and The Safety Briefing.
By bringing these materials together in a single digital hub, AV1 transformed the event from a one-day experience into an ongoing professional development resource that attendees can return to long after the event concluded.
Collaboration
The Speaker Briefing was built through collaboration between leading organisations across the industry.
Partners included:
- AV1
- Inspire Speakers
- Micenet
- SAA Hospitality Group
- Sprintr
- Oneill Photographics
- The Collider
- All Things All Creatures
- Radish Events
Together, the partnership combined expertise across speaker management, event production, venue operations, marketing and content creation to deliver an experience greater than any one organisation could have achieved alone.
Outcomes
The Speaker Briefing strengthened AV1's position as more than an audiovisual production company, reinforcing the business as an industry educator, trusted production partner and advocate for raising standards across the business events sector. As the third instalment of AV1's Briefing Series, the event brought together event professionals from agencies, corporates, associations and venues to experience internationally recognised keynote speakers alongside practical, actionable education.
Beyond the event itself, attendees gained access to a comprehensive digital resource library, extending the value of the day well beyond the final session. The Briefing also strengthened relationships with industry partners and clients, while generating a wealth of post-event content, including video, photography, social media, email campaigns and educational resources that will continue to support the industry long after the event concluded.
The AV1 Difference
At AV1, we believe the best events don't just inspire audiences - they leave organisers better equipped to create their next one.
The Speaker Briefing embodied that philosophy by combining exceptional speakers, practical education and world-class production into a single experience.
It wasn't simply a speaker showcase.
It was an investment in the future capability of Australia's event professionals.
