Forever Grooves: Endless summer soundtrack

As the afternoon sun rolled across the terrace of the MCA’s Foundation Hall, our Long Summer Lunch 2026 was in full swing. With Sydney Harbour as the backdrop, we welcomed clients, partners and friends of AV1 for an experience designed to feel effortless, immersive and distinctly human.

This year’s theme, Endless Afternoon, was an invitation to step away from screens and into something warmer and more tactile. Every production element was curated with intention. Naturally, the music needed to follow suit.

A standard event DJ setup wasn’t going to deliver what we had in mind, so we contacted Forever Grooves (@forevergrooves), the events DJ service run by Melbourne-based selector Remy Brooks.

The set flowed through soulful house, rare disco cuts, funk and global sounds, with carefully placed nostalgic moments woven in. At one point, Talking Heads’ Once In A Lifetime landed seamlessly between two left-field disco records - unexpected, but perfectly timed.

It was corporate events DJ entertainment, redefined.

Forever Grooves’ sound spans soul, funk, disco (including Italo and post-disco), Balearic, Afrobeat, house, hip-hop, indie and beyond. The common thread isn’t trend - it’s feel.

Remy describes it simply:

“If you’d generally prefer to listen to PBS instead of NOVA, I’m probably a good fit.”

For us, that translated into an atmosphere that encouraged guests to linger. Conversations flowed. The energy stayed elevated but relaxed. The soundtrack felt curated - not playlisted.
