Chat GPT is the phenomenon of 2023. According to Ben Hamer, Futurist, over 30% of the Australian workforce has used technology to assist in their role.

As we consider the impact of this innovative (and somewhat freaky… am I right?) technology, we asked ourselves; “how can we use this in a meaningful way at our Long Summer Lunch in January?”

The theme of the lunch was “Follow Your Dreams”, aiming to create a dreamlike experience for guests and inspire them to dream big. The styling and content elements would create an immersive physical environment, but we wanted to go the extra mile and provide a personal and engaging touchpoint.

In the invitation phase of the event, our Marketing Manager, Andrew Crook, wrote a poem for the mail-out and digital invite. We took a cue from this when brainstorming with Chris Schluter from the Sprintr team. Chris came up with the idea to generate a personalised poem for each guest, using their dreams for 2023, which we collected in the registration process.

We were a bit nervous about using an AI-powered model to write poems. After all, what if the output was robotic or stilted? It turns out, ChatGPT’s writing was so good that we were convinced it had a secret stash of Red Bull and a library of Shakespearean sonnets. The output was nothing short of beautiful, capturing the essence of our guests’ dreams and delivering them in a way that was emotional and authentic.

At the event, the poems were displayed on the back of guests’ menus, which helped us cut down on excess printing. Each guest had their own special piece of literary art to take home. They were a hit, with guests ooh-ing and aah-ing over the personalized writing. Some even said that they were going to frame them and hang them on their walls – talk about a lasting impression! (Note: these last two paragraphs were written by Chat GTP – not bad, right? It even cracked a joke for us, as instructed.)

So, how are you considering the meaningful use of technology in your events in 2023? And what do you think of Chat GPT? We’d love to hear your thoughts.

Here are a few examples of the poems and photos from the day.
